Editor’s note: Room for Improvement is a weekly column written by freelance writer Sara Groves about her yearlong quest to improve her physical, mental and financial health.
When you think of hypnosis, what comes to mind? Someone swinging a pocket watch back and forth in front of your face, saying, “You’re getting very sleepy …” and then making you cluck like a chicken?
That’s what I used to think of too — that is, until I attended a self-hypnosis class with Patrick Marsolek, a certified hypnotherapist based here in Helena. Patrick defines hypnosis as “a process that utilizes our natural ability to go into trance, which allows us to access the unconscious to create positive changes in our lives.”
