Course Description

Whether you’re trying to connect with a parent, child,  grandchild, or colleague from another generation, intergenerational communication can be unsatisfying, challenging or even upsetting.  However, when you are connected to your own feelings and values and can respond empathically, you have an opportunity to bridge the gap and connect across generations with ease and authenticity.

Using hands-on, experiential learning, this course will use the skills and practice of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to:

  • Explore how generational values and experience shape the way we see things and each other
  • Strengthen connection within your community
  • Discover shared values in the differences within in our own families
  • Develop empathy and compassion for people in different stages in life, while staying true to yourself in the process

Participants will gain:

  • The ability to make authentic connections with people from different generations
  • The ability to distinguish between observation and judgements
  • The ability to express needs and values in a way that others can hear
