Is there a difference between hypnosis and meditation?

This question comes up frequently with clients, classes and lectures. Is there a difference? I personally feel these states are very similar in experience, much the same body awareness, state of mind, etc. But I feel what you do, or the intention you bring into that state is different.

When is trance good or bad?

I would like to know what criteria we use to decide if trace is a good or bad?

Does it have to do with how well it fits into our lives at the time, that is, does it serve us in some way to go into a trance?

Or, are there times when, even though it may be uncomfortable or troublesome to go into a trance, is it still good for us in some way?

welcome to spontaneous trance!

Hello,

I just thought I'd kick things off with a question... Do you find yourself spontaneously trancing at some point during your day? If so, what is it like? Do you think it's good or bad? Does it serve you in some way when you do it? How do you know that you have just been in a trance?

For me, for example; I often am driving and I'll discover that I've missed the turn I was wanting to take. When I look at it I realize I was in my own internal thought. Also, I am often just running on auto-pilot with my driving, going down a familiar route that I usually take. Is it good or bad? I don't really know. I do know it's inconvenient when I miss my turn, but usually I don't have to turn and I don't even notice that I am in an altered state.

It is curious though...
